First time booking, decent savings

This was my first time using Trainline. I was looking for cheap advance tickets for a trip from Glasgow to Edinburgh. I found a good deal and used a 16-25 Railcard discount, which saved me a good chunk of money. The whole process felt worth it just for the savings on that one journey. I had my e-tickets immediately after paying. Felt like a smart move instead of buying at the station.

Smooth experience start to finish

I bought some Standard Class Train Tickets from Bristol to Cardiff. The ordering process was very intuitive on the app. I liked how it showed the different price options clearly. My tickets were immediately available in the app and I could add them to my phone's wallet. I didn't need to contact support, which is always a good sign. The journey itself was fine, the e-ticket worked perfectly at the gate. No complaints at all, a very solid purchase.

Good value, but one small glitch

I booked Eurostar Tickets for a trip to Paris. The process on the website was mostly smooth; finding the right train times was straightforward. I used my digital Railcard for a discount, which was applied correctly at checkout. The e-tickets arrived in my email quickly, and getting them into my Apple Wallet was easy. Delivery was digital, so no issues there. I did have a question about seat reservations for the return journey, and their customer service chat was a bit slow to respond, taking about 15 minutes for an initial reply. Once I got through, the agent was helpful, but the wait was a minor annoyance. Overall, the value for money was excellent compared to other sites I checked.

Always reliable for UK travel

I've used Trainline many times over the years for UK Advance Train Tickets, and this last booking for London to Manchester was no different. The prices were consistent with what I usually find, and the app is still easy to navigate. It's why I keep coming back – I know what to expect and it always delivers. My tickets were ready instantly.

Hey, thinking about getting a railcard through Trainline. Are they digital or do they send you a physical one? Just wondering how quick I can actually use it after buying.

B Ben 3 months ago
Yeah, they're digital now. You get it straight on your phone, so you can use it pretty much instantly once you've sorted it out.

I got my 16-25 railcard through them last year, it was super easy. Downloaded it to the app and boom, instant discounts. No waiting for a card to arrive, which is great if you need to travel soon.

Quick question on prices, is Trainline actually cheaper than just getting a ticket at the station? Or is it pretty much the same? Heard mixed things.

J Josh 2 months ago
Definitely cheaper sometimes, especially if you can book those Advance tickets. They really add up to savings compared to on-the-day fares.

It can be! If you snag an Advance ticket, or use their split ticketing thing, you can often save a bunch. I usually check both but Trainline often wins out for me, especially for longer journeys.
